Update on the USA-China tariff dispute

Update on the USA-China tariff dispute - from the perspective of the bicycle industry

While the absurdly high tariffs were changed to "only" very high tariffs for 90 days, the tariff burden for bicycles produced in China remains massive.

In addition to the standard duty of 5.5% or 11%, the "Section 301" penalty duties of 25% will continue to be levied. In addition, 30% special duties now apply.

Bottom line: up to 66% duty can be incurred for an MTB.

Reminder: For the USA, the origin of the frame counts.
Assembly and components are irrelevant at this point.

Even if the escalation has just been slowed down politically:
The structural pressure on China as a production location remains - both politically and in terms of regulation.

Now is the right time to put your customs strategy to the test.
Where do you currently stand? And what alternatives are you already looking at?
